IKAT

Ikat is another one of our favourites and is a form of resist dyeing bundles of yarn before preparing the loom for weaving.

After the sections of yarn are tied based on our required pattern, the yarns are then dyed. The wrappings then can be adjusted to develop a new pattern for the yarns to be dyed again with another colour. This process can be repeated many times to create stunning patterns. After we are satisfied with the dyed yarn designs, it is then applied on a loom (which takes 20 days to set up) and then the weaving begins. Blurriness is a common visual characteristic of Ikat's beauty, as weavers try their best to line up the dyed yarns but it can never be exact. Ikat is incredibly detailed, timely and stunning in process and results.
